Woodstream

The neighborhood of Woodstream is situated in the town of Marlton in the Township of Evesham. It is part of Burlington County in the state of New Jersey. Neighboring towns include Greentree, Evans Corner, Cambridge Park, and Ramblewood. South Branch Pennsauken Creek flows along the western edge of the community. 

History

Initially, the greater area was founded by English and Welsh farmers as early as 1676. The discovery of the marl content in the soil allowed local farmers and businesses to succeed. This brought on the first development boom beginning in the 1830s. The marl clay continued to be excavated and sold both locally and to other areas by ships and trains until the pits were closed in 1930. 

Neighborhood

This suburban neighborhood's average home price is $289,712, which is more expensive than 26.6% of other neighborhoods in the state and 57.7% of the others in the country. The average rent in the area is $1,954, which is lower than 78.2% of other neighborhoods in the state. Many of the homes were constructed between 1940 and 1969, but most were built between 1970 and 1999. The area has a low vacancy rate at just 7.9%. 

Historical Landmarks

The neighborhood is close to many historical landmarks and museums. Some a couple that we recommend:

• The Thomas Hollinshead House - This historic house is located on West Stow Road and was built in 1776 in a Georgian architectural style. It is also known as the Stow House or Eve House. 
• John Inskeep House - This 18th-century house is now the site of the Evesham Historical Society and has been preserved as a museum. It is located on Main Street in Historic Old Marlton. 

Education

The residents are zoned to attend public schools within the Evesham Township School District. The district has a combined eight schools, but the ones that serve the neighborhood include:

• J. Harold Van Zant Elementary School - 513 students - located on Conestoga Drive 
• Frances DeMasi Middle School - 774 Students - located on Evesboro Medford Road

The high school zoned for the area is part of the Lenape Regional High School District and is:

• Cherokee High School - 2,144 Students - located on Tomlinson Mill Road

Other schools that provide education to the children include: 

• Burlington County Institute of Technology - a vocational and technical school for high school and post-secondary level students
• St. Joan of Arc School - a private Catholic school that serves preschool students to eighth grade
