The worker's comp attorneys in Landisville, NJ, at NJ Injury Guys would like to offer some insight into the community's history and highlights.
This incorporated community is located in the eastern section of Atlantic County, New Jersey. Along with Minolta and the Wheat Road community, it helps to form the Buena borough. The major roadways that travel through the neighborhood are Route 40, otherwise known as Harding Highway, and Northwest Boulevard.
The area, and most of the Buena borough, was founded by land developer Charles K. Landis. Landis was born in 1833 and was responsible for many land developing ventures, such as Hammonton, Vineland, and Sea Isle City. He purchased the land that is now Landisville to form a new county city and call it Landis County. The residents opposed this idea and even referred to him as King Landis.
The area is home to two main attractions, the Bellview Winery and the St. Padre Pio Shrine. The Bellview Winery was founded by Italian Jim Quarella and named after his great-grandfather. Since 1914, the Quarella family owned a produce farm. It was not until 2000 that the first vineyard was planted. The winery opened to the public in 2001 and now encompasses 40 acres of cultivating grapes. It produces approximately 8,000 cases of wine each year.
In 1997, the St. Padre Pio Shrine was conceived by Italian-American farmers Marie and Pete D'Andrea. With the help of Ron Angelo, a local architect, the design came to life and was completed in 2002. The structure consists of three statues and a four-story monument built upon ten acres of land. Included in the shrine is a relic of a glove of the Saint Padre Pio. Each Wednesday night, the area hosts rosary prayer sessions, which some have claimed led to miraculous events.
In addition to the other areas found within the Buena borough, the population was 4,603 according to the 2010 census. It consisted of 1,723 households and 1,160 families. The area was home to 33.5% of Italian residents in 2000, making it the state's 9th highest and the 22nd-highest percentage for any of the towns in the country. This was an increase of 18.8% from the census count in 2000 that was 3,873. The racial breakdown of the borough's residents was the following:
The annual household income was $53,060 in 2010, an increase from $35,679 in 2000. Some local businesses that offer the residents employment include:
