The township of Hamilton is located in the center of Atlantic County in New Jersey. The township has the state's largest land area of any municipality. The community was the home of a shipyard and trading post built by George May in 1756. The township is home to the 527-acre Balic Winery, located off of Harding Highway in the Mays Landing section of the township. In the early 19th century, descendants of the early settlers began planting the vineyard. The winery opened in 1966 and is the third-oldest operating winery in the state, following Renault Winery and Tomasello Winery. Lake Lenape East recently closed for renovations and includes a historic lighthouse and the catering hall, Lakeside Manor.
