Marlton

The unincorporated community of Marlton is located within Evesham Township in the western section of Burlington County, New Jersey. The community takes up 2,070.4 acres, of which 0.25% or 5.12 acres is water. Neighboring towns that share a border include Ramblewood, Greentree, Evans Corner, Wexford East, and The Dominion. 

History

In 1676, the Welsh and English founded the area. It was first documented under its current name in the 19th century, which was derived from the marl clay found in the local soil. Local businesses and farmers used the clay, which led to the first boom in development from 1830 to 1940. Marl was shipped and sold directly to the locals. However, the marl pits were shut down by 1930.
