Somerdale

The borough of Somerdale is situated in the central region of Camden County, New Jersey. The town covered 889.6 acres and had an elevation of 85 feet. The towns that shared the borders are Stratford, Hi-Nella, Echelon, Kirkwood, Magnolia, Lawnside, and Glendora. 

History

In April of 1929, the area officially became a borough taking land from Clementon Township.

Community Brewery

The largest brewery in the state of New Jersey, Fly Fish Brewery, is found within the community just off of Kennedy Boulevard. The brewery was founded in 1996 by Gene Muller as a virtual brewery. It was named after a constellation in the Southern Hemisphere that stands for exploration and adventure. Initially, the brewery opened its first location in Cherry Hill, but by 2012, it outgrew its location. The current warehouse uses 463 solar panels, solar tube lighting, and recaptured steam for the brewing process. Rain gardens were added to the property, and it is these elements that make it the most sustainable brewery in the world. 

The brewery has created a name for itself regarding its community services and charity donations. Each year they donate more than $100,000 in services, goods, and merchandise to local causes. In partnership with the Great American Brewery Runs, the brewery and others host charity runs and festivals.
